The self-seeded field poppies that nourished numerous bumble bees earlier this year, and dazzled and delighted us, have been been setting seed over the last few months and distributing them for next year's harvest from their remarkable, maraca like seed heads. We have been collecting some of the seeds to share with others come the spring. Such sharing has become easier since the Dorking Seed Library was established earlier this year. As part of the Guildford Seed Bank it aims to preserve the local biodiversity of plants through the 'growing, saving and sharing' of seeds to make accessible to anyone who would like to grow locally sourced plants. For more information about Dorking Seed Library see projects at www.circulardorking.org.uk and www.guildfordseedbank.org.uk
